Vivlios was founded by two nineteen-year-old entrepreneurs in Stockholm with a conviction greater than just jewelry: that people who read more are less prone to violence – and more likely to create something of true value. Our main goal is to get more people, of all ages, to read. The jewelry is our way of doing that.
The problem with jewelry
When we looked at the jewelry industry, we saw the same thing everywhere: jewelry created for an external observer. A status symbol directed outwards – towards the room, towards the camera, towards everyone but the wearer themselves. What that status consists of varies between brands, but the direction is the same: outwards.
We wanted to do the opposite. We wanted to make jewelry whose entire value lies with the person wearing it – jewelry for your inner world. That literally became our motto.
The idea: Wear While You Read
At the core of everything we do is a concept we call Wear While You Read. It works like this:
When you buy a piece of jewelry from Vivlios, it has no inherent meaning. It is beautiful, but empty – by design. The meaning comes from you: every book you read while wearing the jewelry becomes part of its story. Page by page, it is charged with memories of the stories you have lived in. After a year, it is no longer a piece of jewelry from us. It is yours – your Norwegian Wood, your 1984, your Pride and Prejudice. Never ours.
When we surveyed the market, we noticed that almost all reading people have a book that means something special to them. We wanted to make objects that can carry that meaning – without ever dictating it.
This is why the jewelry looks the way it does
Our first three pieces of jewelry are shaped after the smallest components of reading. Necklace "Your book" carries a miniature book – which book it depicts is up to you. Bracelet "An open book" carries an open book, open to free interpretation. And Bracelet "Open ending" carries three dots – like those books that let you finish the story yourself.
The design is deliberately minimalist. A piece of jewelry that is meant to be filled with the wearer's inner world must not be full of ours.
Made in Stockholm, designed to be used
All our jewelry is designed and manufactured in Stockholm, ethically and locally. We chose stainless steel as the material because it can withstand real life: you can swim, exercise, and sweat with the jewelry on. An item that is meant to carry your reading memories for decades must not be fragile.

We sell our jewelry on vivlios.se and at Deckarbokhandeln in Gamla Stan in Stockholm – a bookstore entirely dedicated to crime literature, and precisely the kind of place we want our jewelry to belong. Across Europe, they are also worn by reading profiles who share our conviction that reading is something to proudly display.
What we are really trying to achieve
We are honest that Vivlios is not primarily a jewelry company. It is a lifestyle company that wants to promote reading and a more conscious lifestyle in Sweden. We want to honor those who read – and thereby encourage more people to do so. Reading has long been described as something nerdy, something one does in secret. We believe the opposite: reading is stylish. Those who read build something within themselves that no one can take away from them.
